An Awesome Aiken Spring Classic

Sarason Jablon and Kingstown

The AMW horses and riders rose to the occasion during the Aiken Spring Classic Masters. After we finally had some lovely spring weather to prepare, our riders and horses traveled to Aiken, South Carolina, on April 18-21, and showed off the talents to the rewards of goals met and ribbons won.

Sarasen Jablon and Kingstown were champions in the younger Children's Hunters and won the NAL/WIHS Children's Hunter Classic with beautiful rounds. Sarasen was also third in the Governors Cup and fifth in the THIS Medal. Kingstown started off the week with the reserve championship in the 3' USHJA Hunters as well, with Sarasen and trainer Annie Walters in the irons sharing the riding duties.

Sarasen and Crocodile Rock won two Large Pony Hunter over fences classes and were fourth in the model in a huge class! Sarasen was also second in the Marshall & Sterling/USEF Pony Medal out of 13 and fourth in the WIHS Pony Medal, gaining more points toward qualifying for the finals at the Washington International Horse Show in October.

Chelsea Koornick and Truffle

Chelsea Koornick and Truffle earned the reserve championship in the middle Adult Amateur Hunters by virtue of winning two over fences classes with scores consistently in the 80s. They were also fourth in the NAL/WIHS Adult Hunter Classic with solid and consistent performances.

Likewise, Christine Jablon and Winston earned blue in the the middle Adult Amateur Hunters with a win under saddle. They also had great ribbons over fences and a sixth-place finish in the NAL/WIHS Adult Hunter Classic.

Over in the Pony Ring, Hadley Rodwell and Angelica got a top score of 83 in the Small Ponies for a second-place finish and won the Small Pony model. They had other great ribbons in the Smalls as well and finished fifth in the Pony Hunter Classic for a great show.

Brooke Farfone and Knee Deep

Brooke Farfone and Knee Deep won the 3'3” Junior Hunter, 16-17, handy class with a superb round. They were also third in the Dover Saddlery/USEF Medal and fifth in the Junior Hunter Classic. They had many other top ribbons in all the Junior Hunter classes.

Lillian Cain and On Point moved up to the 3'3” Junior Hunters and posted some really great trips and top ribbons in a huge group. We’re excited for their continued success and growing partnership.

Lulu Hardie and Quintender finished their last show together rocking their way around the jumper ring in style, jumping to impressive rounds in the 1.05m and 1.0m classes.

Caroline Oliverio and Motown

Caroline Oliverio and Motown once again earned a tricolor for their efforts. They were reserve champions in the Long Stirrup Equitation and also won the Long Stirrup Hunter under saddle and had good ribbons over fences.

Esme Melchoir’s Vyper Z made his hunter debut and did nothing but impress with scores in the 80s all week in the 2'6” USHJA Hunters. We see a bright future ahead for this talented young horse.

Similarly, “Baby Donnie” (Don Perignon) continues to impress with his willingness and talent, with super rounds in the USHJA 2’9” Hunters!
