Holiday Highlights During Aiken December Classics

On Point and Annie Walters with their red ribbon in the USHJA National “Hunt and Go” Hunter Derby

The Equus Events December Classic II, December 7-10, at Bruce’s Field in Aiken, South Carolina, was a great show. As always, the horses didn't disappoint and their riders continue to make me proud!

On Point, the 7-year-old owned by Painted Horse LLC and Tricia Booker, finished second in the USHJA National “Hunt and Go” Hunter Derby with scores of 89 and 84. He missed first by half a point with more than 40 entries. We are really proud of this young horse and are looking forward to his bright future.

Brooke Farfone and Knee Deep put in a beautiful round in the Hunter Derby, finishing ninth with scores in the 80s! Sarasen Jablon and Kingstown jumped in top form, laying down a good round in their only second National Hunter Derby!

Hadley Rodwell and Angelica

Sarasen and “King” won three of the four over fences rounds and placed second in the fourth round to secure them the championship in the Children’s Hunter, 14 and under, section. They also won the Children's Hunter Classic with an 87 and 80. Sarasen also rode to fifth in the THIS Children’s Medal.

Christine Jablon and Winston continued their consistent performances and started the show with a second in a huge USHJA 2'9” Hunter class. They were fifth in the Adult Hunter Classic and jumped to some good ribbons in a big Adult Amateur Hunter, 36 and over, section.

Hadley Rodwell rode Angelica to impressive performances in the 11 and under equitation, placing first on the flat and second over fences. They also won the Small Pony Conformation Hunter over fences round, along with other great ribbons. In addition, Hadley was fourth in both the USEF and WIHS pony medals.

Brooke and Knee Deep had great rounds all week, placing second and third in the 3'6” Performance Hunters with all of the professionals. Brooke then rode to third in both flat and fences in the 15-17 equitation and placed fifth in the Dover Saddlery/USEF Medal.

In just their second show together, Lillian Cain and On Point won a large USHJA 2'9” class against all the pros. They then claimed fifth in the SCHJA Governor’s Cup and eighth in the THIS Children’s Medal. Lillian and her own Carbon Copy earned the reserve championship in the Baby Green Hunters, winning the under saddle and placing consistently well over fences.

Anders Paulson got the ride on his mother, Kristin’s, horse Emontros After Party and had blue-ribbon rounds all week in the .90 jumpers. Anders and his own Balou De Nous jumped some great rounds in the 1.20m Welcome Stake and the 1.30 Jingle Bells Jumper Classic.

AMW Stables’ Don Perignon continues to impress us as he learns his way around the hunter ring.
